This Woman Was Arrested Arrested For Smuggling Mobile Phone Inside Bowl Of Soup To Her Lover Who Is Remanded In Prison.
The 33yr old Fatima Balogun attempt to Smuggle in a phone to her lover backfired as she got caught and landed herself in trouble.
The woman was arrested on Wednesday after she had wrapped the cell phone inside waterproof bag and hid it inside the bowl of soup meant for her boyfriend Ganiyu Ajibode.
The was remanded for alleged armed robbery in Abeokuta Maximum Prison in Ibara. The woman was arrested by the special intelligence unit of the Nigerian Prison service.
The Ogun State Prison Comptroller Benson Abolade said the woman brought the soup in a cooler. Abolade described the act of the suspect as threat to national security, he also added that the offense will not be taken with levity. According to him some items like phones , drugs, sharp objects, weapons amongst others are prohibited in the prison. He said
" It is an offense to bring thess items into the prison yard without due permission"The suspect Fatima confessed to the crime, saying she bought and hid phone inside the soup, she also revealed that she carried the action in order to regularly to communicate with her boyfriend in prison.
Comptroller Benson Abolade however said the suspect will be handed over to the police for prosecution to serve as deterrent.
