Fundacja Jedyna Taka (The Only One Foundation) organization had held the first international edition of a beauty pageant for women in wheelchairs in an effort to change people's perceptions about people with disabilities on 7th October 2017 in Warsaw Poland.
Beautiful 23yr old Aleksandra Chichikova from Belarus, studying psychology and pedagogy emerged as the winner of the first ever Miss Wheelchair World Pageant, beating 24 other disabled contestants from 19 different countries.
The newly crowned Queen Chichikova aspires to breakdown the stigmas surrounding people with disabilities.
Her contestant profile reads:
“I am convinced my life can illustrate that a person may be successful, strong, purpose-driven, beautiful and attractive regardless of how he moves,”
“I really enjoy watching people change their mind and attitude towards disabled people.
“They start to see an equal person, not someone with disability.
“Fight your anxiety and your fears,”the 23-year-old winner said at the celebratory contest gala.
