Three Dead As Armed Forces And Community Youths Fight Over Sealed NDU Gate In Bayelsa State


Amassoma community in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa state is currently having the heat once again as Military officers and community youths are having a serious clash over the state University gate which was sealed by welders during a protest few weeks ago.

It was gathered that the bloody clash which began this morning kicked off after a combined team of fully armed policemen and soldiers numbering up to 300 stormed into Amassoma community with the aim of opening the sealed University gate by force.


Reports has it that the while the military men were at that, the act angered the youths and members community, considering that their demands and agitations have not been met so far by the state government.

This lead to a bloody fight between armed forces and the youths of the community which left both old and young running for their lives. The military men were reported to have opened fire sporadically on the Indigenes of the community, teargas and canisters were also fired.


As at when this report was being compiled, a total number of three sons of Amassoma community have been reported dead while other series of causalities were accounted for.

The military men were said to have backed off from the community and the so called Niger Delta University gate has currently been blocked again with a tipper of sand by the host community.
